We've received the following lovely poem from Patrick
Evans-McClave, aged 10. Thanks, Patrick!
My
Tree
It has a long, thick trunk like a
mighty organic mountain, its structure then lost in a tangle of branches,
stretching out like fingers in all directions. A thin layer of green
paint covers it and its skin is flaked with time. Its arms reach out as
if trying to grap the clouds but never managing. Solemnly it stands
beyond the bushes.
Stripped of its summer coat, it stands, a home for
birds. It looks sad standing there, watching us, never moving, banished,
wasting away, waiting for death while we play. The Tree.
