Local Books at The Book Case

We stock a comprehensive collection of maps and guides to the Calderdale area, and also further afield, including the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes. We try to keep in stock all available books on local history for the area, including some second-hand copies of out of print titles. We also run Royd Press, a small press publishing house for books of local historical interest.

Koichi Andoh travelled by ship from Japan in 1935 to teach the technique of distinguishing the sex of one-day-old chicks to Hebden Bridge hatchery businesses. He kept a daily diary of his journey and life here which his son Takayoshi Andoh discovered in the late 1990s. (£9.99)
